brian mclaren talks a new kind of christianity
only a minute or two into the story of my theological journey over the last 5 or 6 years, a little book called a new kind of christian enters the story and serves as the genesis for my ongoing narrative. that, of course, was written by brian mclaren nearly 10 years ago and it continues to resonate with a whole new generation of people investigating this whole jesus idea.
on tuesday, the conversation deepens with the release of his new book, a new kind of christianity.
the book revolves around 10 questions that are “transforming the faith.” from the question of biblical authority to the essence of jesus’ mission to questions concerning sexuality, mclaren looks to provoke a whole new examination into the faith claims of christianity. needless to say, i’m excited about the book. i’m not expecting it to be as life-changing as a new kind of christian, but i certainly expect to be challenged and given the opportunity to explore some of my faith-related presuppositions.
starting this week (on tuesday the 9th, the book’s release date), a new channel on theooze.tv will feature a weekly video from mclaren in which he’ll explore 1 of each of the 10 questions from the book. in the meantime, they’ve released an intro video, of sorts, in which mclaren and ooze founder spencer burke discuss the upcoming video series and concepts of the books. so, here’s that video.
